SoulBoy was released on the 3rd of September, and during its opening weekend the film screened at only 7 cinemas. For a low budget, British, indie production it's tough work getting onto those cinema screens. Cinemas need profit so it's difficult for them to take a chance on films such as SoulBoy when the marketing budgets for Hollywood films guarantee people will go and see them.
But thanks to some great attendence numbers (thanks to all of you!), SoulBoy, which sold out a nubmber of screenings showed that it was a film which appealed to audiences. This meant more cienmas wanted to book the film and now, three weeks after the release, the film has reached a fantastic 50 screens and continues to grow!
Keep checking the cinema listings to see new additions. This week the film shall be showing in Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Manchester, Dundee, Liverpool, Southampton, Oxford, Blackburn, Wigan, Brighton and Stoke on Trent.
Screening at new towns and cities every week check the cinema listings to see when the film shall be playing near you.
The growth in screens and cinema takings for SoulBoy has not gone unnoticed as The Guardian's film blog this week labelled SoulBoy 'the comeback kid' detailing how the film is going form strength to strength after its release. Click here to read the article.
SoulBoy wants to thank everyone who has gone to see the film and those who are heading to see it in the coming weeks! Your attendence is helping the film get on more screens around the country so more and more people can enjoy the film on the big screen!
